Maintaining a Support System
We all have visions and dreams that we want to see come to pass and flourish. That's just a natural human instinct. If someone tells you they are not interested in being successful, they are deceiving themselves and they are trying to take you down that same path with them! Show me someone who doesn't want to be successful and I will show you much they are fooling themselves!
It is a known fact that we as individuals want to succeed. We want to say that what we thought about, what we dreamed about, and what we spoke into the atmosphere about is either coming to pass or it's going to come to pass VERY soon. That is a GREAT attitude to have and being positive is the best thing we can do for our mental, emotional, and spiritual well being. However, we also need to realize the importance of having a solid and true support system as you venture through the waters of uncertainty. It's more than just hitting "like" on a status or saying that you are in someone's corner. Merriam-Webster's Dictionary defines support "to promote the interests or cause of." What does this definition mean to you? Does it articulate what you feel inside of your heart or is there more to the puzzle? For some of you, support may mean to speak a kind word about you or what you are trying to accomplish. To others, it may mean a little bit more. It may mean going the extra mile and going above and beyond what is normally expected.
It is up to you to determine the type of support you need. Whether you're starting a business, going through a tough time, or returning to school, you NEED to have a team of people who are willing to be there for you, NO MATTER WHAT. I must admit, I have never sought out support like I should. I used to think that I could handle things on my own. But then, "life" got in the way and I was not able to balance everything and every emotion I experienced the way I thought. After trying to things on my own and stressing to the point of illness and mental breakdown, I had to seek out support and find the people who were assigned to be a blessing to me through support, prayer, advice, and a listening ear. Not everyone you encounter will be the support that you need. Know the difference and know who to keep close and who to remove from your circle. Don't be afraid or ashamed to do what is best for YOU.
Support is so important. When you have support, you feel like you can accomplish anything, no matter how difficult the task may be. Seek out your support system and be VERY specific with what you need. Remember, YOU GOT THIS! You are more than a conqueror. At the same time, there is no "I" in the word TEAM. Stay focused, stay prayerful, and stay connected. You are destined to win!
